hello, goodbye.

October 2022, Photography BFA Group Exhibition

Dedicated to Kaylee Gansberg

In late August 2022, the Photography program at Western Michigan University lost a vital part of our family in a tragic accident. Kaylee Gansberg was a friend to all and, what the head of our department lovingly called her, a "mobile safe space." After hearing the news of the passing of someone I considered a dear friend, I knew that this show was how I wanted to honor her legacy and role in our program. We had begun the planning for this show the previous semester and Kaylee showed great interest in participating. I wanted to make sure she still got that opportunity to be a part of the exhibition however I could. Thus, Hello, Goodbye. was born. Hello, Goodbye. was a way for our program to introduce ourselves to the art world, some for the very first time, while also saying goodbye to and honoring a wonderful friend, whom we very much miss.
